We are a group of students from Bethel Seminary, St. Paul. Some of us are in the M.A. in Christian Thought Program while others are in the M. Div Program with a concentration in Christian Thought.
While we work within the broad tradition of Evangelical Christianity we have different views on the purpose, means and scope of apologetics. Though our thinking is undoubtedly influenced by our learning experience at Bethel, the opinions expressed on this blog do not represent any official viewpoint of Bethel Seminary. Each author on this blog is solely responsible for her or his own writing.
Our purpose with this blog is to put the combined power of our thinking together to defend the Christian worldview while at the same time critically examining our (and each other’s) presuppositions we all bring to the table.
We join the ongoing conversation in Christian apologetics and philosophy of religion not with the intention of reinventing the wheel, but to engage constructively and to be shaped in the process.
We are:
Kyle Boyes, author
After graduating from Wheaton College (IL), Kyle discovered that she has a penchant for adventure (especially if it leads to a good story!) when she moved to Lima, Peru. An excellent starting point for adventures, Kyle explored the famous and hidden gems of the Pacific coast, Andes Mountains, and Amazon rainforest, along with parts of Bolivia, Ecuador, and Chile. However, her greatest adventure there was five years of teaching secondary social studies and Bible at the International Christian School of Lima. From this time of working with adolescents from around the world, she gained a passion for explaining the world and Christianity in understandable terms. Thus, you will see in her blog posts less philosophy and more of what she calls “street-level” apologetics – ideas and explanations that are accessible for the average person. Now living back in Minnesota where she grew up, her latest adventures include substitute teaching in local high schools, navigating rush hour traffic during her commute, and encountering fascinating new ideas and perspectives in her seminary classes.

Josh DeKeijzer, author and blog administrator
After dropping out of piano studies at the Conservatory in The Hague, Netherlands, Josh joined Operation Mobilization on its mission ship Logos only to be shipwrecked at the tip of South-America three months later. He completed his two-year commitment as part of a fundraising team in North America and as a missionary in a muslim context in South Asia where he also met his wife. Another six years with the same organization followed in the Netherlands during which he completed his BA in Biblical Studies in Leuven, Belgium. Radically changing course he spent the next ten years in advertising as designer and art director, while involved in his home church in a teaching and preaching ministry. Three years ago a spiritual renewal led him to explore Apologetics and Christian Philosophy afresh which ultimately led him to Bethel Seminary where he is currently pursuing an MA degree in Christian Thought. Josh is married to Mary. They have one daughter, Saromani. Josh’s motto: Embrace your idiosyncrasy, but communicate it well.
