Poem of the Week [10.9]

July 12th, 2010 § Leave a Comment

There is always hope for those who wait upon the Lord. Therefore we shall rejoice and not give up. Please note that the ‘refrain’ bit ‘rejoice, rejoice we have no choice’ is taken from a beautiful song from the album Deja Vu by Crosby, Stills Nash and Young. Hippie stuff, but so good.

Rejoice

As God speaks one cannot but hear
a victor’s banner I must hoist
though valiant enemies are near
Rejoice, rejoice, we have no choice

Forbidding forests I must tread
foray unknown unsteady voids
walk waves of fluctuating threat
Rejoice, rejoice, we have no choice

Be quiet and try not to withhold
I’ve heard a strong determined voice
before the evening grows cold
Rejoice, rejoice, we have no choice

Just carry on, keep standing tall
as if we had another choice
a dawn is coming to us all
and to that end: rejoice, rejoice
